Crete Struck by 6.0 Quake Kills 1, Injures 9

A 6.0 magnitude quake struck the Greek Island of Crete and left one person dead and nine others injured.

According to the USGS, the quake struck at about 06:17:22 (UTC) located at 35.252°N 25.260°E with a depth of 8.7 km.

The Greek General Secretariat for Civil Protection told the press  that the lone fatality was found at a  destroyed chapel in the town of Arkalochori in Heraklion.

There are also reports of people still trapped under collapsed structures while Greek fire authorities are on the island to conduct search and rescue operations.
