Brazil’s health ministry recorded 24,611 new COVID-19 cases and 648 deaths in the past 24 hours on Thursday, September 23.
The ministry data has documented 21,308,178 cases from when the pandemic first hit the country and said that the official death toll rose to 592,964.
Brazil’s numbers are in the world’s third-worst upsurge in the United States and India and its second-deadliest after the United States.
The seven-day average of COVID-related deaths has dropped to under one-fifth of the toll of almost 3,000 a day due to the rise of vaccination efforts.
