Polish officials reported that four migrants believed to be Iraqis were found dead at the Poland-Belarus border on Sunday.
Poland found three men on their side while Belarusian authorities announced an Iraqi woman was found on their side just meters away from Poland.
Polish border guards later found eight more migrants suffering from hypothermia and have sent seven of them to a hospital.
“Today we conducted a very thorough analysis of the situation at the border with Belarus. We are constantly strengthening its protection and the potential of our services,” said Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on the incident.
Polish border guards added that there are 300 daily attempts to cross the border and have arrested over 1,400 people since January.
On Saturday alone, 324 attempts to cross the border from Belarus to Poland were made.
