Russian President Vladimir Putin has undergone self-isolation procedures after a member of his inner circle tested positive for COVID-19.
“Vladimir Putin said that in connection with the detected cases of coronavirus in his environment, he must observe the regime of self-isolation for a certain period of time,” said the Kremlin.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov clarified that Putin was feeling well and tested negative for COVID but did not say for how long.
Despite being exposed to a COVID-19 positive individual, Putin recently met with some Paralympians and joked that he will be undergoing quarantine soon.
Putin was reportedly set to attend the session of the CSTO Collective Security Council scheduled for this week in Dushanbe, a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and a joint meeting of the Heads of State of the CSTO and SCO member states via videoconference after the announcement of his isolation.
