Israeli troops arrested at least six relatives of Palestinians who escaped from a high-security jail, a local watchdog said on Wednesday.
Israel has deployed drones, road checkpoints and an army mission to Jenin after ix Palestinians escaped from the high-security Gilboa prison in northern Israel through a tunnel dug beneath a sink in a cell on Monday,
The Palestinian Prisoners Club said that two brothers and a sister of Mahmud Ardah were arrested on Friday morning in the village of Arraba near Jenin in the northern West Bank.
Ardah has been serving a life sentence in prison since 1996 for his alleged involvement in a series of deadly attacks.
According to the Palestinian advocacy group, other relatives of the six fugitives, all from the Jenin area, were arrested and are being held in detention.
Meanwhile, Public Security Minister Omer Bar Lev and Prime Minister Naftali Bennett agreed on Thursday to form an inquiry commission led by a retired judge.
