The Suez Canal Authority announced the temporary suspension of operations after another giant container ship ran aground.
The Coral Crystal, a Panama-flagged bulk carrier ran aground after sailing 54km into the channel.
According to a local news report, four ships were unable to traverse the canal going towards Suez from Port Said because of Coral Crystal.
The other lanes in the canal remained free despite the obstruction while the Coral Cyrstal was later successfully re-floated.
