A new report suggested that users in the United States and the United Kingdom are spending more time on TikTok than social media giants Facebook and YouTube.
App Annie, an app think tank, reported that TikTok had outpaced top social apps in terms of time spent per user in the U.S. and the U.K., growing by up to 325 percent from 2019 to 2020.
Users in the U.S. and the U.K. spent a monthly average of 21.5 and 19.9 hours on TikTok, respectively.
Social media giant Facebook averaged 17.7 hours of monthly usage in the U.S. and 16.6 hours in the U.K., according to the report.
The report said that TikTok is also becoming increasingly competitive in the video streaming landscape, taking over YouTube in time spent watching per user.
YouTube remained on the top spot, however, for overall time spent of 23.1 average hours per month since it has more users than TikTok.
YouTube has about 2 billion monthly users while TikTok had 700 million in 2020.
However, App Annie said that TikTok is on track to reach 1 billion users in 2021.
App usage time in the report only accounted for Android phones and excluded China where TikTok is a major app.
