Vietnam on Sunday has set a deadline of September 15 for adult vaccination in the country’s coronavirus epicenter Ho Chi Minh City and capital Hanoi.
Vietnam Ministry of Health, in an emergency dispatch, said the cities must mobilize all capable forces, including private medical facilities, to vaccinate people at full capacity.
The ministry has also set September 15 deadline for adult vaccination in the southern industrial provinces of Binh Duong, Dong Nai, and Long An.
The ministry added that it allocated enough vaccine doses for the vaccination drive in Ho Chi Minh, Binh Duong, and Long An.
On Wednesday last week, Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said COVID-19 restrictions were causing “material and mental hardship” on people, so the country cannot resort to quarantine and lockdown measures forever.
“The COVID-19 pandemic is evolving in a complicated and unpredictable manner and may last for a long time, Chinh said, adding that preventing deaths was top priority and vaccinations were a key strategic measure.
