Afghan Local Claims US Drone Strike Killed Nine Relatives Including 6 Children

The US drone attack on a vehicle with explosives near Kabul airport on Sunday killed several Afghan civilians including children, according to witnesses.

CNN reported nine members of one family, including six children, died from the blast.

“We are an ordinary family. We are not ISIS or Daesh and this was a family home — where my brothers lived with their families,” the brother of those who died told CNN.

Dina Mohammadi said several of her extended family, including children, died from the blast.

According to Aljazeera, three children were among the six civilians who died in Sunday’s attack.

A resident in the compound, Ahmaduddin said he had collected the bodies of children after the strike.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) in a statement released on August 29 said “the U.S. is aware of civilian casualties reports following their strike on a vehicle in Kabul and is assessing the results of the strike.”

“We know there were substantial and powerful subsequent explosions resulting from the destruction of the vehicle, indicating a large amount of explosive material inside that may have caused addition casualties,” the statement read.
