Bomb Threat Reported Near US Library of Congress; Evacuations Ordered

Capitol Police reported that a possible bomb was spotted in a pickup truck outside the Library of Congress on Capitol Hill and has ordered the evacuation of the Cannon House Office Building.

“The USCP is responding to a suspicious vehicle near the Library of Congress. Please stay away from this area and follow this account for the latest information,” said the Capitol police.

The truck was parked along 1st Street while its driver was inside the vehicle holding something in his hand.

Footage shared on social media showed multiple law enforcement vehicles being deployed to the scene including heavily armored trucks.

Police are already sending negotiators to the vehicle but have not released further details.

The Supreme Court has now been evacuated while police have reportedly not yet finished negotiating with the man in the truck.

This is a breaking story.
