Irina Levshyna, editor-in-chief of the Belarusian news agency Belapan has been reported missing along with reporter Zakhar Shcherbakov.
The Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAJ) said that the homes of both missing persons and another Belapan staff, Alyaksandr Zaytsau were recently searched by police.
Belapan claimed that both reporters could not be reached and that their whereabouts are unknown.
Zaytsau said during a Naviny.by interview that the searches were conducted by police because of alleged “organization of activities that blatantly violate civil order.”
Police have reportedly taken a mobile phone, a hard drive, a computer, an old tablet) and some documents from Zaytsau.
Belapan’s former deputy director, Andrey Alyaksandrou, was already arrested and charged in January while the main offices have been raided.
Shcherbakov’s wife reported that her husband was later released while Leushy is scheduled to be interrogated at the office of the Investigative Committee in Minsk.
