Florida Woman Shot by Toddler

According to police in Altamonte Springs, Florida, a 21 year old woman was fatally shot by her child on Wednesday August 11, 2021,, while she participated in a work related video call.

The woman, identified by police as Shamaya Lynn, of Altamont Springs, was taking part of a video conference call, when one of her two children found an unsecured and loaded handgun and shot her.

According to authorities, another video conference participant called 911 after they saw a toddler in the background,  heard a noise, and Lynn fell backward and never returning to the call.

Authorities arrived at the apartment to find Lynn with dead, with a gunshot wound to the head.

Police said that the child found the loaded and unsecured gun in the apartment, apparently left unsecured by an adult.

The Seminole County State Attorney’s Office is working with investigators to determine whether the owner of the gun will face  charges.

The victims two children were not hurt, and are in the care of relatives.
