Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced he will chair a ‘Cabinet Office Briefing Room A (COBRA) meeting this afternoon to discuss the current situation in Afghanistan.
Downing Street confirmed that the meeting will discuss to discuss the current situation in Afghanistan after the Taliban captured three more provincial capitals.
The UK Labour’s shadow foreign secretary Lisa Nandy MP warned that the government should already have a clear strategy on how to deal with the ongoing civil war.
The COBRA meeting came after Defence Secretary Ben Wallace was over the possible redeployment of British forces in Afghanistan.
“If you want to cut out the short-term threat globally, wherever Britain has a threat to her interests and her people, we have a global counter-terrorism capability,” said Wallace.
