El Chapo’s financial chief Jorge Perez was extradited from Mexico to the US and faces multiple drug trafficking relates charges in Washington, D.C.
The Mexican Attorney General’s Office said Perez oversaw the Sinaloa Cartel’s cash flow and was in charge of trafficking drugs from Latin America to the U.S. while serving as the middle man between the Sinaloa Cartel and other drug trafficking groups in Colombia and Guatemala.
Pérez has been held at the Altiplano maximum-security prison since May 14, 2016, the same prison El Chapo broke out of.
Last Sunday, Perez was handed over to US authorities at the Mexico City International Airport while there are no details yet on his impending trial date.
