Polish Health Minister Adam Niedzielski reported that suspected anti-vaccine protesters have burned down a vaccine center in the town of Zamosc.
“It was an act of terror, directed not only against employees of the vaccination center and people who get vaccinated but also against the state. The purpose of these attacks is to discourage [people to get] vaccination, and discouraging vaccination in the face of the upcoming fourth wave means risking lockdown, restrictions, and unrest,” said Niedzielsk.
The Polish Chief of Police, Gen. Insp. Jarosław Szymczyk said that a special operational and investigative group has already been formed to investigate the incident in Zamość.
Poland’s prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki mentioned that a similar incident happened at an inoculation station in Grodzisk Mazowiecki and that acts of “banditry” would not be tolerated.
Szymczyk said that extra safety precautions would be made around vaccination stations to prevent attacks against them and healthcare workers.
“It is very important to stop the fourth wave. This is why… we shall react very severely to such incidents,” said Morawiecki.
