UK Carrier Strike Group Enters South China Sea, Gets Warned by China

Beijing has sent a warning to London after the UK Carrier Strike Group 2021, led by HMS Queen Elizabeth entered the South China Sea.

“The action should never try to destabilize regional peace, including the latest military collaboration between the UK and Japan.” The Chinese navy will take any necessary actions to counter-measure such behavior,” said China’s Ministry of National Defence spokesman Wu Qian.

UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace had already said earlier this month that the passage of the strike group would be legitimate under international law.

Wallace however did not mention if the fleet would enter China’s 12-mile zone.

The latest deployment is the first time the strike group, led by HMS Queen Elizabeth and including two destroyers and two frigates, has been deployed to the contested region.

Earlier this week, the UK Carrier Strike Group 2021  has already conducted exercises with the Singaporean Navy after stopping to refuel.
