Myanmar Military Plane Crash Kills 12

A Burmese military plane that was carrying senior military personnel and monks crashed close to a steel plant near Pyin Oo Lwin in Mandalay.

At least 12 people have been reported so far while the condition of the others is still unknown due to the media blackout in the country.

The plane was reportedly flying from the capital Naypyidaw to the town of Pyin Oo Lwin when it lost communication due to bad weather and crashed.

Among those killed in the crash were famous Burmese Buddhist monk Abhisheka Maha Rattha Guru Bhatanda Kavisara and two lieutenant commanders and two captains from the Tatmadaw.

Only the pilot and one passenger survived but they were taken to a hospital after suffering injuries from the crash.
