Authorities said a building collapsed in the southwestern city of Gwangju, South Korea while it was being demolished Wednesday, which killed at least nine people.
The Gwangju Fire and Safety Headquarters reported that a five-story building that was under demolition collapsed and debris fell onto a bus near the site, which killed nine passengers and seriously injured eight others.
Fire officials said the reason for the collapse was not yet known.
On Thursday, Cheong Wa Dae spokesperson Park Kyung-mee said President Moon Jae-in has ordered an investigation into the collapse of the building, instructing authorities to review the demolition process and safety measures employed, Yonhap News Agency reported.
