UAE Opens First Holocaust Memorial in Arab World

The United Arab Emirates has opened the first Holocaust memorial exhibition in the Gulf to commemorate the Jews who were killed during the Nazi occupation.

The We Remember exhibition in Dubai also aims to educate and raise awareness of the Jewish struggle during the Holocaust.

Museum founder Ahmed Obeid Al-Mansoori said, “As a leading cultural institution in the UAE, it is very important to us that we focus on educating people about the tragedies of the Holocaust because education is the antidote to ignorance.”

Israel Ambassador to the UAE Eitan Na’eh and Germany Ambassador to the UAE Peter Fischer were present on Wednesday’s opening at the Crossroads of Civilizations Museum, the Arab News reported.

The exhibition also pays tribute to Arabs who saved Jews during the Holocaust.

The UAE is one of the Arab states to normalize relations with Israel last year under the US-brokered Abraham Accords, along with Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco.
