Iraqi Forces have mobilized at Baghdad’s Green Zone as Iran-backed Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) forces amass around the city.
The PMF started appearing in large numbers after senior militia commander Qasim Muslih was under Iraq’s anti-terrorism law for alleged attacks on US bases and local activists.
Muslih was later released but units from both forces are still gathering at Bagdhad.
Military Tanks and vehicles were reported on social media to be moving toward the Green Zone while PMF troops have gathered in front of the PM’s office
Footage from social has shown military vehicles moving in a convoy on the streets of Baghdad.
There have been no reported firefights yet between the Iraqi army and PMF.
