Active Shooting in San Jose Rail Station Leaves Several Dead

A lone gunman went on a shooting rampage at a light rail yard in San Jose, California leaving several dead and wounded.

San Jose Police spokesman Russell Davis said the gunman was neutralized but has not yet been identified yet. 

“I can’t confirm the exact number of injuries and fatalities, but I will tell you that they are multiple injuries and multiple fatalities in this case,” said Davis.

The shooting occurred reportedly occurred at around 6:34 a.m. PST at 101 West Younger Ave., a Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) train and a maintenance yard. 

San Jose police and Santa Clara County sheriff’s office immediately responded to the scene after receiving 911 calls and managed to neutralize the shooter by 8:10 a.m.

The VTA said surviving employees were evacuated and that service was not impacted while the sheriff’s office at Younger announced that they would be establishing a reunification center for families of the employees at the yard.
