Dibar Nutricional Recalls Hand Sanitizer Due to the Presence of Methanol

Dibar Nutricional S. de R.L. De C.V. recalled all Dibar Labs Hand Sanitizer packaged in 8oz and 16 oz bottles due to potential presence of methanol or wood alcohol,  a substance that can be toxic when absorbed through skin or ingested.

Methanol or wood alcohol is not an approved ingredient by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for hand sanitizers due to its toxic effects.

Excessive methanol exposure can result in skin and eye irritation, headache, weakness, drowsiness, nausea, difficult breathing, loss of consciousness, and in severe cases, death.

The recalled product was distributed nationwide.

Dibar Nutricional has taken the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of consumers by notifying its distributors and consumers by email and is arranging for the handling of all voluntary recalled products.

The FDA recommends consumers to stop using these hand sanitizers products and to dispose of them immediately in appropriate waste containers instead of flushing it or pouring the products down the drain.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions to these hand sanitizers to date.
