The Philippines has reached over 1.1 million COVID-19 infections on Wednesday, the Philippines Department of Health (DOH) reported.
More than 4,700 new COVID-19 infections have raised the country’s cumulative total to 1,159,071 confirmed coronavirus cases, and 49,951 active infections
The DOH however did not say whether the day’s relatively fewer fresh cases could be attributed to the low testing output of accredited laboratories.
COVID related fatalities increased by 136, totaling 19,507.
Meanwhile, the number of people who have recovered reached 1,089,613 with 6,986 additional patients.
Over 2.5 million Filipinos received their first COVID-19 jab, while nearly 800,000 are fully vaccinated against the disease since it started its vaccination drive In March 2021.
The Philippines, with a population of 110 million, has tested nearly 12 million people since the outbreak of the pandemic in January 2020.
