Israeli troops have amassed at the Gaza border as cities continue to face rockets barrages and increasing incidents of communal violence.
The Israeli Army said that they are already in “various stages of preparing ground operations.”
Israeli Army spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Conricus reported that two infantry brigades and one armored division are already at the border but “no order has been given to execute a ground operation by the chief of the general staff.”
As of Wednesday night, at least 500 rockets were launched towards Israel from the Gaza strip while Arab-Israeli residents started clashing with Jewish far-right groups.
We have seen Arab rioters set fire to synagogues and vehicles and attack police officers — it is anarchy,” said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Netanyahu also called on the Jewish community to calm down and prevent tensions from rising.
“I do not care if your blood is boiling. You cannot take the law into your own hands. You cannot grab an ordinary Arab citizen and try to lynch him — just as we cannot watch Arab citizens do this to Jewish citizens,” said Netanyahu.
Netanyahu added that he plans on call in more military personnel to help restore order.
