Ashkelon Rocket Attack Injures More Than 70 People

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported six civilians in Ashkelon were injured following the continuous launch of rockets from the Gaza Strip fired at Israel Tuesday.

“As non-stop barrages of rockets continue to be fired toward southern Israel, an apartment building in Ashkelon was hit. 6 civilians were injured. Waking up to terror should NOT be a daily reality,” the IDF said in a tweet.

Over 300 rockets were fired since Monday night as they intercepted more than 90 percent of the rockets, IDF spokesperson LTC Jonathan Conricus said.

The IDF also said they have killed more than 15 Hamas and Islamic Jihad terror operatives, in response.

Meanwhile, local media have reported that two women were killed separately in the recent attack, an elderly woman and a foreign caregiver who were not able to reach the public shelter in time, The Times of Israel reported.

The Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon confirmed they treated 74 casualties, with two in serious condition and two in moderate condition.

Palestinian health authorities reported 28 Gazans were killed, including nine children, with over 100 injured amidst the conflict.
