Afghan Girls School Bombing in Kabul Kills 25, Wounds More then 52

A bomb detonated outside the Syed Al-Shahda school, in the Shia majority neighborhood of Dasht-e-Barchi in Kabul leaving 25 dead and 52 wounded.

Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman Tariq Arian said ambulances are arriving at the scene to evacuate the wounded, many of which children.

There are no leads yet on who committed the bombing or why but the school was reported to be a girl’s school.

Health Ministry spokesman Ghulam Dastigar Nazari called on residents to allow ambulances to get to the area after receiving reports that residents were attacking them.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid denied their involvement in the attack and said that only the Islamic State group could be responsible for such a heinous crime.

“The horrendous attack in Dasht-e Barchi area in Kabul, is a despicable act of terrorism. Targeting primarily students in a girls’ school makes this an attack on the future of Afghanistan,” said the European Union’s mission in Afghanistan on Twitter.
