United Arab Emirates Extends India Entry Ban

The United Arab Emirates has extended an entry ban for travelers from India, amidst the continuing surge in Covid-19 cases in the South Asian country, on Tuesday.

The country’s General Authority of Civil Aviation and the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority said that entry for travelers on all flights from India will be suspended, except for flights transiting the UAE which are bound for India.

“This decision also includes extending the suspension of entry for travelers who were in India in the 14-day period prior to arrival in the UAE,” the statement by the foreign ministry read.

“Flights between the two countries will continue to allow the transport of passengers from the UAE to India and the transfer of exempted groups from India to the UAE who have applied for exemption,” they added.

UAE citizens, diplomats, official delegations, golden residence holders and travelers on business flights are exempt from the ban but will be subject to a 10-day quarantine and Covid-19 testing at the airport.

Cargo flights will still continue operations between both countries.

This comes as India reported over 20 million cases with an additional 357, 316 cases within the last 24 hours.
