A senior employee at the Swiss embassy in Tehran was found dead on Tuesday after falling from a high-rise building, a spokesman for emergency services said.
The Swiss foreign ministry (FDFA) confirmed the incident but did not identify the victim. However, Iranian emergency services spokesman Mojtaba Khaledi said the victim was the first secretary of the Swiss embassy.
“This person was the first secretary of the Swiss embassy,” Khaledi told Mehr news agency.
“The cause of her fall has yet to be determined,” he told Fars,” the spokesman added.
According to the report, the victim fell from a high-rise building where she lived in the north of the city.
The FDFA meanwhile extended its condolences to the family of the victim.
“The FDFA and its head Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis are shocked by the tragic death and express their deepest condolences to the family,” the foreign ministry added.
The Iranian police have been investigating the incident.
