A Spanish man who allegedly infected 22 people with coronavirus has been arrested, police said.
A judge charged the unidentified man and released him on Saturday evening to await trial, Spain’s Europa Press news agency reported.
The 40-year-old man allegedly continued to go to work and the gym despite having a cough and a temperature of more than 40 C / 104 F.
According to the police, he has walked around his place of work in Majorca and he has been pulling his mask down, coughing, and telling colleagues he “was going to infect them.”
His colleagues had urged him to go home, but he refused, police said.
Five colleagues and three fellow gym-goers later tested positive, while another 14 family members of the infected man also tested positive for COVID-19, including three one-year-olds.
None of those infected required hospitalization, police said.
