Mexican Cartel Allegedly Used Drone Bombs to Attack Police in Michoacán

Mexican police have blamed the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) for the drone bomb attack against a clearing operation team in the western state of Michoacán which left two officers injured.

The officers who were attacked were clearing blockades on the road leading to the city of Aguililla which had been blocked by the CJNG.

The state Public Security Ministry (SSP) said that seven locations on the Apatzingán-Aguililla highway were blocked with stones, trenches, and vehicles.

The CJNG and the Cárteles Unidos have been fighting for control in Aguililla for almost a month.

The police did not say they had evidence that the CJNG used the drone bombs against them but similar devices have been recovered in their vehicles last August.

The said drone bombs had two canisters attached to them containing plastic explosives and ball bearings.
