Guan’s Mushroom Co Recalls Enoki Due to Potential Contamination of Listeria Mocoytogenes

Guan’s Mushroom Co of Commerce, CA recalled 200g/7.05-ounce packages of Enoki Mushroom due to potential contamination of Listeria monocytogenes, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections to people with weakened immune systems.

According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Listeria infection can only cause short term effects such as high fever, nausea, headache, abdominal pain and diarrhea for healthy people, however it can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The recalled products were distributed from CA, NY, PA through produce distributors or wholesalers to retail stores nationwide.

The recall was initiated after Guan’s Mushroom Co discovered the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in their sample testing through certified laboratory.

Guan’s Mushroom Co advises consumers who bought the potentially contaminated product to not consume it and to throw it away or to return it to the place of sale for a full refund.

There have been no reported illnesses thus far from consuming the products.
