An A.I. marketing site called ReportLinker predicts an $18 billion increase in the community college market during 2021-2025 in a holistic market analysis published Thursday.
The report identified the rise in online classes as the driving force behind community college growth. The projection comes amid an 11 percent decline in enrollment in 2020. Specifically, workforce training programs dropped 22 percent from 2019.
Community colleges are increasingly turning to incentives to boost enrollment. The most popular approach has been checking out free equipment like laptops and tablets. Other schools are advertising scholarships and free summer classes.
The list of community colleges reopening in-person classes as early as fall is growing every day, which is another factor experts point to for a projected increase in enrollment.
