Taiwanese company Pegatron has announced they will build a plant in El Paso, Texas, that will create parts for Tesla Inc.
Pegatron told Taiwanese newspaper Commercial Times that the details and investment strategies of the overseas plant were still in the planning stages. In November 2020, Pegatron pledged to build a plant that would provide parts for Tesla in the U.S..
Pegatron is largely known for its partnership with Apple Inc, where it is a key supplier of factories that can build their products. Apple just spent $150 million in November on ramping up production with Pegatron for iOS devices.
Stock in Tesla and Apple are both in the green after yesterdays strange split on Wall Street, the Dow in the red while the S&P and Nasdaq posted modest gains. Shares of both companies are up slightly this morning in pre-market trades.
