Morgan Stanley and Spelman College selected five college freshmen for an inaugural scholarship program designed for students at historically black colleges and universities.
The Morgan Stanley HBCU Scholars Program provides scholarships and career training for HBCU students with a goal of narrowing America’s racial wealth gap. Of the 60 HBCU students selected, five will be getting their tuition, room and board at Spelman fully covered.
The average cost of tuition after aid at Spelman is around $41,000. The women’s HBCU in Atlanta selected five students with backgrounds ranging from hospital volunteers to local musicians.
The program is set to begin in the fall 2021 semester, with the recipients at Howard University and Morehouse College to be announced next.
