Saint Joseph’s College is now handing out $50 citiations to students who refuse to comply with school’s face mask requirement.
Since beginning the fines two weeks ago, the private Catholic college has issued over 21 citations.
East Carolina University implemented similar measures back in August. Students without masks were warned for the first offense, then fined $50 to $100 for second and third offenses, and expelled the fourth time around.
Purdue University suspended at least 36 students in September for attending maskless events off-campus and ignoring social distancing measures. Meanwhile, schools like Dickinson State University are opting to incentivize compliance via mask exemptions for vaccinated students.
Maine reported a 7-day average of 314 cases with over 40 percent of its citizens vaccinated with at least one dose.
