Porsche recalls Cayman GT4s, Cayman GTS 4.0s, 718 Spyders, and Boxster GTS 4.0s Due to Loose Engine Connecting Rods

Porsche Cars North America recalled certain sports coupes due to potential safety risk.

The recall includes the following:

  • Model year 2021 Porsche Cayman GT4s
  • Cayman GTS 4.0s
  • 718 Spyders 
  • Boxster GTS 4.0s.

The engine connecting rods may crack and loosen.

A loose connection while the vehicle is being driven may cause engine damage, a stall, or an oil leak, increasing the risk of a crash or fire.

Porsche will notify owners, while dealers will replace the connecting rods the engine, free of charge.

The recall is expected to begin May 23, 2021.

There have been no reported incidents to date.
