An alleged Israeli airstrike launched at the Syrian capital Damascus has injured four soldiers, state media reported.
Syria’s official SANA news agency reported authorities were able to intercept the missiles before it reached the targets.
SANA cited a military source reporting, “at 12:56 a.m. on Thursday dawn, the Israeli enemy launched a new aerial aggression from over the Lebanese territories through which it targeted a number of sites in the surroundings of Damascus, asserting that the Syrian Air defenses intercepted the enemy’s missiles and downed most of them.”
Syria also urged the UN Security Council to take immediate action to prevent further attacks of Israel against the country.
“Israeli occupation authorities, on Thursday dawn, committed a new aggression on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic in flagrant violation of United Nations Charter, the principles of international law and relevant Security Council resolutions,” the Syrian foreign ministry said in a statement.
Israel has yet to respond on the incident.
