The Massachusetts College of Art and Design announced plans to host its annual MassArt Auction virtually for the second year in a row due to the ongoing pandemic.
The annual auction is a significant source of scholarship funding at MassArt, formally the Massachusetts Normal Art School, where over 90 percent of the students require some level of financial aid according to its executive director of advancement. Over the last five years, MassArt boasted over $1 million each year in scholarship proceeds.
The event consists over 300 works from MassArt students, faculty and alumni, all of which will donate between 50 and 100 percent of their earnings to the scholarship fund.
The event itself is broken into two parts: a live auction and a silent auction. The live auction will take place online during the evening of April 10th. The silent portion is set for the morning of April 11th. Bidsquare.com will host the online auction.
