At Least 1900 Tigray Casualties Identified Including Elderly and Children

Researchers have found that almost 2,000 people were killed in over 150 massacres by soldiers, paramilitaries and insurgents in Tigray with victims ranging from infants to people in their 90s.

The list was created using reports from a network of informants in the region run by a team at the University of Ghent in Belgium that has been studying the conflict since it started last year.

The list, which was cross-checked with testimony from family members and friends, media reports and other sources, is one of the most comprehensive records of the killings in Tigray. It will increase international pressure on Ethiopia’s prime minister, Abiy Ahmed, who has rejected other such records, saying they were fabricated or exaggerated.
