Becker College, a private liberal arts college of around 1,800 undergraduate students, is officially closing in August due to a financial strain caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Massachusetts-based college has already set up “academic pathways” to allow displaced students to transfer campuses and complete their degrees.
Becker’s video game design and e-sports management programs will be taken over by Clark University just a mile away.
Becker was dealing with a several-hundred-thousand-dollar deficit prior to the pandemic despite a $5 million endowment.
Becker joins over a dozen colleges and universities that have closed permanently due to pandemic related financial pressures.
