A Portland resident was arrested after he broke into the official residence of Switzerland’s ambassador to the United States in Woodley Park, Washington D.C., and assaulted him.
The victim, Swiss ambassador Jacques Pitteloud was reportedly pushed by suspect Christian David Mandeville after trying to prevent him from forcing his way into the residence.
“His actions pushed the ambassador backward,” Secret Service officer Jacob Pina who responded to the intrusion.
The Swiss embassy confirmed that Pitteloud remained unharmed during the incident.
“Neither the ambassador nor any embassy staff were harmed in this incident. The embassy of Switzerland thanks the U.S. Secret Service and Metropolitan Police Department for their quick response,” said the Swiss Embassy in Washington D.C.
The Secret Service has not yet found a motive for Mandeville’s intrusion who was found out to have no criminal record.
