Overseas fans who bought tickets from the authorized resellers outside Japan for the Tokyo Olympics will only have partial ticket refunds and may have to wait long for the refunds.
The issue of refunds came after the local organizers of the event have barred fans abroad due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
There were dozens of authorized resellers in which were typically appointed by the Olympic were allowed to charge an additional 20 percent for the handling fee on tickets.
CoSport, the ATR for the United States and other territories and countries, said in a letter that the handling fee will not be refunded. It said it would refund the face value of the ticket and the shipping fees.
“CoSport and other Olympic entities encouraged the Japanese government and organizers to refund all cost incurred by international spectators,” CoSport president Robert Long said in a letter.
