Kia Recalls Model Year 2021 Telluride, K5 and Forte Vehicles Due to Malfunctioning Occupant Detection System

Kia Motors America recalled 142 model year 2021 Telluride, K5 and Forte vehicles due to potential safety risk.

The Occupant Classification and Detection System (OCS/ODS) unit may not detect the presence of a child restraint system in the front passenger seat.

Deployment of the front passenger airbag, with a child in that seat, can increase the risk of injury to the child.

Kia will notify owners, while dealers will replace the OCS/ODS unit, free of charge.

There have been no reported incidents to date.
