Senior military sources say that three soldiers were killed and seven injured in early morning attacks against two military posts in northern Ivory Coast on Monday.
According to the sources, two soldiers were killed in an attack on a military camp in Kafolo, near the country’s border with Burkina Faso. The third soldier was killed in nearby Tehini as the attackers fled the scene.
Two attackers were killed and four others detained, said the sources.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but an Ivorian military source said the attackers are suspected to be from Burkina Faso.
The assailants seized weapons and military equipment during the raids. A senior military source said Ivorian troops were carrying out a search operation in the area.
