British police had arrested a man after a “suspicious item” was found on the grounds of the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the queen’s official Scottish residence in Edinburgh.
Police said they were called to Holyroodhouse at about 8″50 pm and said a bomb squad after the suspicious package was found.
“Following examination by explosive ordnance disposal (EOD), it was made safe,” said a police spokesman but did not disclose if it was actually a bomb.
The police said that a 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident but did not explain why.
More EOD teams carried out searches on the grounds of Holyroodhouseto to ensure that they did not miss out on other possible bombs.
Buckingham Palace has not yet made a statement on the incident.
