UAE Announces Vaccination Drive for All Residents

The United Arab Emirates has announced and urged all citizens to register for the free inoculation against Covid-19, after the six-week period of inoculation for priority citizens has ended. 

The health ministry said that starting March 21, all eligible citizens and residents aged 16 and above may now be vaccinated at the more than 200 centers available across the country.

An appointment should be made to get the vaccine but those who are most at risk of the virus will be vaccinated even without a prior booking, official Emirates News Agency reported.

Meanwhile, the UAE reported that over 72 percent of elderly citizens and residents have already been vaccinated, including those with chronic diseases.

Health minister Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais also said, that 56.59 percent of the eligible population have received the jab.

Authorities have approved the vaccines from Sinopharm, Pfizer-BioNTech, Sputnik V and Oxford-AstraZeneca for emergency use.
