Tsunami Warning Issued After 7.0 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Japan

A tsunami warning was issued for the cities of Hachinohe and Nigata, Japan following a magnitude 7.2 earthquake off the east coast of Japan,  the US National Tsunami Warning Center reported.

The latest information from USGS show the earthquake has been revised down to a 7.0   preliminary magnitude that occurred at a depth of 54 kilometers (34  miles).  Tsunami Waves of up to 1 meter in height have struck  parts of Japan’s  coast following the earthquake.

Officials said that there were no  immediate reports of injury or major damage. 

Hundreds of residents have  been left without electricity
