Porsche Cars North America Recalls Macan Vehicles and Turbo Kits Due to Faulty Occupancy Sensor

Porsche Cars North America recalled 39,547 model year 2017-2018 Macan, Macan Turbo Kits, Macan GTS, and model year 2015-2018 Macan S, and Macan Turbo vehicles due to potential safety risk.

The front passenger seat occupancy sensor mat may degrade and fail to detect a passenger in the front seat.

If a front passenger is undetected, the airbag will not deploy in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Porsche will notify owners, while dealers will replace the sensor mat and seat cushion, free of charge.

The recall is expected to begin May 2, 2021.

There have been no reported incidents to date.
