Whole Foods Market Recalls Cranberry Biscotti Due to an Undeclared Allergen

Whole Foods Market recalled Cranberry Biscotti due to undeclared allergens.

The recalled product did not indicate the presence of tree nuts (pistachio), posing a potential health risk for people who consumed the product and have an allergy or intolerance to pistachio.

According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), a person having an allergic reaction to pistachio may experience swelling of the lips, face, tongue and throat, hives, abdominal pain, diarrhea and even nausea.

The mislabeled products were from six stores in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

In response to this, Whole Foods Market representatives have been coordinating with retail stores, instructing them to immediately remove the product from store shelves and inventories.

The company has also issued a point of sale notice to its customers to explain why the product is being recalled and what to do if they have purchased the product.

Whole Foods Market has advised their customers who bought the product and have an allergy to pistachio to not consume it and to return it to the point of sale for a full refund.

There have been no reported illnesses thus far.
