Russian Authorities Move Alexei Navalny from Kolchugino Detention Center to Undisclosed Location

Alexei Navalny lawyers have claimed that the Russian opposition figure has been moved from the Kolchugino prison in Vladimir into an unknown location.

Navalny was held in Kolchugin while in quarantine before he was to serve his two-and-a-half-year sentence in a penal colony.

Kobzev, one of Navalny’s lawyers said Navalny was still in Kolchugin last Thursday but another lawyer had tried to see him on Friday and was told his client had been moved somewhere else with no other details.

“Under various pretexts, they were not allowed to see Alexei. Only at 2 p.m. were they told that Alexei had departed. They refused to answer where he went,” said Navalny’s Twitter account.

A spokeswoman for the Federal Penitentiary Service said they were not allowed to discuss where Navalny has transferred but Russia’s TASS news agency, cited a law enforcement source claimed that Navalny had been moved to the IK-2 penal colony, also in the Vladimir region.
